"Key Sounds Label" Sends Another Story on the Wind
You cannot talk about the music of Japanese visual novels without invoking the name "Key Sounds Label." Kanon, AIR, CLANNAD — the backbone of those famous tear-jerker titles was always, unmistakably, the music. Now Key (Visual Arts), which released its latest full-price title anemoi this past April 2026, is finally putting out its original soundtrack on July 29. At 63 tracks across three discs, it is a generously sized release that bottles the entire world of this romance adventure into sound.
anemoi is Key's brand-new work, following Summer Pockets REFLECTION BLUE. Set in the far-northern town of Masumi, it follows protagonist Mugi Hayakawa through a slow life surrounded by sweeping nature. Once you learn that staff from Summer Pockets and The Stella of the End were involved, it becomes hard not to expect something special from the audio. The title "anemoi" refers to the wind gods of Greek myth — and true to that name, a sense of wind blows through the entire score.
From BGM to Vocals: 63 Tracks of Scenery
What you cannot overlook here is that the soundtrack collects not only the in-game background music but also full-chorus versions of every vocal song, performed by a stellar lineup of ASCA, Yuiko Ohara, and fhána. Disc 1 lines up breezy, wind-swept tracks like "Eternicle," "Prism Light," and "Windy Love." Then Disc 2 turns playful with dashing cuts like "UMA Racing" and "Attack on T-REX," translating Key's signature swing between the serious and the comedic straight into sound.

Disc 3 gathers alternate arrangements such as "Fumareru hodo tsuyoku -Wilt Ver.-" and "Yuen no Sora -Harmony Ver.-," illuminating the story's climax from a different angle. Sounding a single theme in ever-shifting forms depending on the scene — this "variation on a shared motif" is exactly the technique that lifts a score above mere background music, and it has long been one of Key's specialties. Just scanning the track titles is enough to bring scenes flooding back for anyone who has played, and to convey the story's warmth to those who haven't.
The Jacket and Booklet Are Part of the Work
The jacket illustration is a fully new drawing by Na-Ga, who handled the game's original art. Another new illustration adorns the booklet cover, and inside are numerous liner notes from the creators who composed the music. Who poured what feeling into which track — the release invites you not just to "listen" to the soundtrack but to "read" it too. For those who have cleared the game, and equally for those who have yet to visit Masumi, these 63 tracks make a fine gateway into a "story of the wind." It arrives July 29 — perhaps the perfect timing to put it on and let the summer breeze carry it.
